Krištof Kintera’s freaky world
Museum ‘Kunsthal Rotterdam’ is introducing the exhibition ‘Your Light Is My Life’ by contemporary artist Krištof Kintera. With his expertly made, poetic and sometimes provocative sculptures he explores boundaries of contemporary art. Kintera creates new meanings by imagining absurd possibilities and unrealistic applications.
We have experienced this exhibition as a strange sensation; a freaky, surprising and astonishing world. Some kind a fascinating nightmare from which we would not like to wake up, afraid we would miss something.
Humor and irony in everyday products
His work, full of humor and irony, is overwhelmingly imaginative. Kintera lives and works in Prague. Most of the times he chooses his subjects from his Czech background. Everyday products become statements, like a full plastic shopping bag that says
I am sick of it all, it doesn’t seem to change
Sometimes his work is more confrontational, evoking unexpectedly strong emotions. Like that sculpture of a child banging his head against the wall. Creating disruption and contrasts is not uncommon for this artist.
