Pride Walk, rainbow flags parade

The festival stands for celebrating freedom of sexual and cultural diversity. The festival started with an exuberant Pride Walk. Everyone could join in.
We saw gays, lesbians, transgenders from lots of different cultures. Both young and older people came together. The atmosphere among the participants was very relaxed.

The importance of freedom

Along with a rousing brass band the parade started in front of the Town Hall. After a sunny, half-hour stroll, the Pride walk ended at the Keerweer, a gaybar in the center of the city.
Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb was invited to open the festival. He emphasized the importance of freedom and not to fear the differences. Embracing diversity in all its splendor was his message.
